Robert Del Tredici - At Work in the Fields of the Bomb
104. Dr. Edward Teller
Palo Alto, California. December 21, 1984. Dr. Teller invented the hydrogen bomb, and he is credited with having inspired Ronald Reagan with the vision of a space-based defensive shield against nuclear missiles. At a public lecture in Montreal on May 13, 1986, Dr. Teller stated in response to a question on fallout from Chernobyl: "If you explode all the nuclear weapons in all the arsenals of the world a large fraction of humanity will not be injured, and the damage will be more or less confined to the places where the hostilities occurred."
