66. Inside the Key Lake Mill
This uranium mill handles ore from the Key Lake Open-pit mine. Through a series of chemical leaching processes, crushed ore is transformed into a powdered concentrate called yellowcake. Most of the ore that goes into the mill exists as waste, which contains 85% of the ore's original radioactivity. Key Lake, Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. September 17, 1986.
